About Strom Products

Like many old world pasta products, our story begins in the early 1900’s, with the Pucci family immigrating to the United States from Italy.  In 1922, the Pucci’s opened up the Cicero Macaroni Company to manufacture noodles of all different shapes and sizes for local restaurants and pasta sellers.  Robert B. Strom, Chairman of Strom Products, Ltd. purchased the factory in 1968, and many of the old world pasta-making techniques and recipes were passed down to him.  Bob continued to build the company, making it a major manufacturer of Kraft Macaroni and Cheese and many other products.  In 1976, with the invention of No Yolks Noodles, the world's first no-cholesterol noodle, Strom Products launched a whole new chapter in it's noode-making life. Today Strom markets a number of different shapes and sizes of No Yolks Noodles, Wacky Mac Pasta and Wacky Mac Macaroni and Cheese Dinner. The History of No Yolks Noodles

The idea for a no-cholesterol egg noodle came from the noodle of Robert Strom.  On his way to work one day in 1976, Bob was listening to Arthur Godfrey on the radio talk about how eggs have 150 mg of cholesterol.  As a noodle and pasta maker in Chicago, Bob knew that the standard 2 oz. serving of traditional egg noodles already has 50 mg. of cholesterol compared to about 35 mgs in an 8 oz. glass of whole milk!  Was it possible to make an egg noodle that was low in cholesterol?  Why sure, just leave out the yolks!  Thus, No Yolks Noodles were born.  Made from egg whites, No Yolks Noodles have no cholesterol and are even 99% fat free.  That’s why No Yolks is the healthier alternative to regular egg noodles.  And they cook up delicious, firm and fluffy, and stay that way in all your favorite recipes.  Today, No Yolks is the #1 selling egg noodle in both the US and Canada, and is the only brand of noodle with national distribution.

THE STORY OF WACKY MAC

Wacky Mac, the fun tri-colored, multi-shaped pasta was created in 1976 by Bob Strom, on the heels of the wildly successful launch of No Yolks Noodles.  Realizing how popular No Yolks Noodles were, Mr. Strom developed a healthy pasta for use in salads, main dishes and casseroles. Once he saw the popularity of Wacky Mac Pasta, he created the kid-friendly, healthy version of Macaroni and cheese called Wacky Mac Macaroni and Cheese Dinner, the fun-shaped meal kids love and moms love to serve!
